Courtroom Technology

The Bankruptcy Court offers the following technologies for use in hearing locations throughout the district. Please note that the technology and equipment available may vary by hearing location.

Requests for Telephonic and Video Conference appearance should be submitted via letter in ECF at least a week in advance of the hearing date. Review the procedures page for the assigned judge for additional information.

 
The ChapMobile App provides the ability to View and Search court hearings via Android and iOS devices and is available here.

TELEPHONIC HEARINGS
Attendance at hearings or other conferences may be by telephone if approved by the Judge in advance of the hearing/conference. If approved, the requesting party will be provided with a toll free 1.888 number and instructions to join the call.
 
VIDEO HEARINGS
Attendance at hearings or other conferences may be held via ZoomGov if approved by the Judge in advance of the hearing/conference. 
 
LAPTOP PRESENTATION
If approved by the Judge in advance of the hearing/conference,parties may bring a laptop and connecting cables into the courtroom and request connection to a court-provided projector and large screen to display documents, images or video from the user’s laptop.
 
DIGITAL RECORDING
All hearings held in Seattle and Tacoma are captured on digital audio. These recordings are the official record of courtroom proceedings and will be used by transcription agencies when producing transcripts.
 
Wi-Fi
Attorney Wi-Fi Internet access is available
For login/password, ask staff at the Bankruptcy Court Clerk’s Office or the judge’s courtroom deputy.
 
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO OR AUDIO RECORDING
Visitors to any of the Courthouses in the Western District of Washington are allowed to carry and make use of various electronic devices as set forth in the Order Defining Electronic Device Policy for Western District of Washington Courthouses. Smartphones, laptops and similar devices may be used to take notes, transmit and receive data communications and access the internet in courtrooms. In the courtroom. these devices cannot be used for telephone calls, photographs or audio or video recording or transmission. Photographing, transmitting, or recording any court proceedings from a location outside the courthouse in conjunction with a remote appearance, or any other remote court proceeding conducted by telephone or video conference is also prohibited.
