A government-wide lapse in appropriations is in effect as of October 1, 2025. The Judiciary will continue to support paid operations through Friday, October 17, 2025, using fee balances and no-year appropriations. The Court will continue to operate as necessary to carry out its Constitutional duty to resolve cases and controversies. The federal courthouses in Seattle and Tacoma remain open during normal business hours.
Hearings and motions calendars, changes for remote locations: Judges will continue to conduct hearings and motions calendars. Motions should be confirmed using the normal process.
Clerk’s Office and Chambers Staff: The Clerk’s offices will be open during regular hours. Clerk’s office and chambers staff will be processing cases, receiving filings, and receipting funds.
